OBJECTIVE

Intel says a small German contingent is holed up in two buildings on outside Sainte-Mère-Église. You and your fellow members of the 505th PIR are instructed to clear the area from resistance in order to bolster Allied control of Normandy.

HISTORICAL CONTEXT

Sainte-Mère-Église was of strategic importance soon after the June 6, 1944 invasion of Normandy due to its location on the Caen-Cherborg railway and upon an access road to the English Channel.
